The Alpine Museum, which opened in 1926,showcases the historicand artistic heritage of the Mont Blanc region.

The heritage of Mont Blanc

The permanent exhibition invitesvisitors to retrace the history of the Chamonix valley with collections commemorating the early days of mountaineering and the conquest of Mont Blanc, the great scientific studies at an altitude of 4,000 metres, the development of winter and summer sports and the way tourist development has transformed the valley.

Opening times

  • Until June, 30:

from thursday to sunday: 2pm to 5:30pm

  • July and August:

every day: 10 am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm

  • Closed at the end of september for renovation work


During your visit please respect health precautions:

  • limited number of entrances: 40 visitors max. and management of flows at the entrance
  • washing your hands at the entrance is mandatory
  • wearing a mask is mandatory from 6 years old
  • maintain a safety distance with other visitors

Admission prices

  • Adults €6
  • Reduced rate €4.70  +65 years/with reduction card: guest, resident,student, local residents, large families, disabled
  • Free  for under 18s  not part of a group
  • Groups (min 10 pers.) adult  4.70 / child 2.50
  • Museum pass:12  Annual pass with unlimited entry to the museum network of the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley
